TS per capita income will increase 6 times by 2040: KTR

As if almost unveiling a vision for the year 2040, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said that Telangana will increase its per capita income six times by 2040.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of Foxconn, KTR said, “Today is indeed a historic day as we are exactly where China was 30 years ago. We shall do what China has done in 30 years in the next 20 years. As a state, we shall increase our per capita income six times to USD 20,000 per capita by 2040. As a state, we have identified electronics manufacturing as a focus area. We hope to become the Shenzhen of India. In the next 10 years, we aim to create a 1.5 million workforce to create a USD 150 billion economy in electronics manufacturing alone.”

He said Telangana’s per capita income grew 2.5 times in the last eight years and it attracted investments worth USD 50 billion.

“We take ourselves seriously. We mean business, we mean progress and we mean a forward-looking state,” he said.

Later, speaking at a public meeting, KTR said that to get big investment we must remove all the hurdles created by Modi.

“We signed an MoU with Foxconn to invest in Telangana on March 2 under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR. After exactly two and a half months we performed the Bhoomi Puja for that plant,” KTR said.

“It is impossible to provide government jobs to everyone. That is why there is a need to focus on providing jobs or self-employment opportunities. Foxconn will create 35,000 to 40,000. A total of one lakh people will be directly and indirectly employed. Foxconn has promised to complete construction in the next nine months,” KTR said.

The government and Foxconn have decided to set up a skill training centre. Arrangements on this should be coordinated with Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, local MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy and government officials, he said.

“Only Telangana has opposition parties who cannot bear the development of the state. A party organised an unemployment march after leaking TSPSC question papers.  Even after Prime Minister Modi cheated by promising 18 crore jobs and the BJP is going around in the name of an unemployment march. If Modi had given 18 crore jobs, there would be no need for today’s unemployment march. Another party that has failed on all fronts now asks for a chance. If you have the guts the unemployment march should be conducted against Modi,” he said.

“People like Rajinikanth did not just say that Hyderabad has become like New York City. The city has developed tremendously. That’s why it is praised by everybody,” he said.A
