TS reports 48 new COVID-19 cases

Telangana reported 48 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the cumulative tally to 8,43,516, according to the COVID status bulletin issued by the office of the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare. The state also recorded 52 recoveries on the same day.

The report revealed that there were no COVID-19 related deaths in the state so far in the new wave, with the cumulative death toll remaining at 4,111. The case fatality rate stands at 0.49%, while the recovery rate is at an impressive 99.47%.

The total number of cases under treatment and isolation in the state currently stands at 359. Telangana conducted 6,022 COVID-19 tests on Thursday, and the samples tested per million population is at 10,41,975.

The bulletin also revealed that no reports are awaited at present. The World Health Organisation (WHO) benchmark for daily testing target for Telangana is 140 per million per day, which is equivalent to 5,600 tests per day. However, Telangana has been testing far above the benchmark, with a cumulative total of 3,87,82,315 tests conducted in the state so far.

The government of Telangana has been taking several measures to control the spread of COVID-19 in the state. The public has been urged to follow COVID-19 safety protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining social distance and getting vaccinated to help the state fight the pandemic.
