TS to develop industrial park for Taiwan firms: KTR

A dedicated industrial park will be established in the State for Taiwanese companies and the government will work jointly with the industry and trade organisations of Taiwan, Industries Minister KT Ramarao said here.

KTR was interacting with a team from the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) met the Minister for IT E&C, Industries & Commerce, KT Rama Rao on Friday. The delegation was led by Bau-Shuan Ger, the Taiwan representative in India, and TEEMA Chairman Richard Lee.

The delegates discussed a wide range of topics ranging from trade and economic cooperation to cultural exchange programmes. KTR spoke about Telangana’s unique TS-iPASS which gives investors the right to get time-bound clearances to start businesses. He also mentioned the widespread use of IT and electronics in all spheres of life right from healthcare, life sciences, automobiles, defence and aerospace, and the new age of start-ups working on tech innovation, and how the State succeeded in creating a sectoral advantage.

KTR explained the measures adopted by his government to improve the ease of doing business in the state and the prevailing investor-friendly ecosystem. He also extended his invitation to start-ups/MSMEs from Taiwan to collaborate with T-Works (India’s largest prototyping & design campus) & T-Hub (world’s largest incubation campus) in Hyderabad.

Bau-Shuan Ger assured the minister of support from Taiwan companies who are willing to set up and expand their businesses.He also said that this is his first visit to Hyderabad and he is surprised to see the proactive, vibrant ecosystem in TS. He said that not only manufacturing but he is thinking of bringing banking institutions from Taiwan to India to facilitate SMEs and promote collaboration. TEEMA Chairman Richard Lee said that visiting Hyderabad was like homecoming to him.

He said that companies from both countries, especially Telangana and Taiwan, should focus on creating opportunities in research & design, innovation, product development and manufacturing. Principal Secretary ITE&C, Industries and Commerce Jayesh Ranjan said, “We appreciate their visit to Hyderabad and we look forward to taking these discussions ahead.”
