The Telangana government has decided to implement the Rs 1 lakh financial assistance scheme for minorities like the scheme recently launched for BCs. Minister Harish Rao made the announcement during a meeting of minority leaders in Jalavihar.

Ministers Harish Rao, Mahmood Ali, MP Ranjith Reddy, MLAs Shakeel, Danam Nagender, MLC Farooq Hussain, and the chairmen of minority corporations attended the meeting.

He said that as per the request of Home Minister Mahmood Ali, the CM agreed to launch the Rs 1 lakh assistance scheme for minorities without any bank linkages.

He said that as he is the Finance Minister the CM had asked him to finalise the modalities. Harish said that the GO will be issued in a few days. Ministers Harish Rao and Mahmood Ali honoured the chairmen of minority corporations.

“KCR respects minorities a lot. Mahmood Ali was made minister for two terms. Our CM is implementing the Ganga Jamuna Tahjeeb. Shadi Mubarak was brought for minorities and Kalyana Lakshmi was introduced for Hindus. But the Congress says one thing and does one thing. Muslims are still poor because of Congress rule,” Harish said.

“An outlay of Rs 2200 crore was made in the budget for minorities. The Congress never gave a budget like the one given by the Telangana government even in the last 10 years. Besides English, Urdu is also available in minority residential schools. We are providing good education by establishing residential schools and colleges. Minority students are now getting into good careers.”Harish recalled that as soon as Salwa Fatima said she wanted to become a pilot, the CM gave her money and now that lady earns Rs 5 lakh a month.

“Many welfare schemes were introduced for Muslims. Telangana is the only state in the country where Muslim girls are studying more. We are providing education by establishing residential schools for girls. KCR is the only CM who asked to conduct NEET and Public Service Commission exams in Urdu. A scholarship of Rs 20 lakh is being given to minority students to study abroad,” Harish said.

He said that a building is being constructed at an expense of Rs 5 crore at the Ajmer Dargah.

“KCR is the only CM in the country who treats people of all religions equally. During Ramzan, Dhawat-A-Iftar is being given in all districts. The BRS is the only party working for Muslims,” he said.
