TS to produce 11,000 MW of renewable energy in coming yrs

Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) Chairman Y Satish Reddy announced that Telangana has made great strides in renewable energy production since the formation of TSREDCO. He spoke at the 7th edition of RenewX, a two-day renewable energy trade expo at the Hitex Exhibition Centre on Friday.

TSREDCO has produced 4,100 megawatts of solar energy and 4,531 megawatts through other renewable sources. The expo was organised by Informa Markets, a B2B exhibitions organiser.

The expo was inaugurated by a distinguished group of industry experts, including Y Sathish Reddy, Ajay Mishra, Director General of Renewable Energy Society of India (RESI), Bhagyathej Reddy, Director Power & Utilities of PwC, Sunil Sharma, Spl Chief Secretary of Energy Department, Govt of Telangana, Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director of Informa Markets, N. Janaiah, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, TSREDCO Ltd, Hyderabad, and Rajneesh Khattar, Senior Group Director of Energy portfolio at Informa Markets in India.

Satish Reddy said, “During the formation of Telangana, the state was only producing around 500 megawatts of renewable energy. But now it has increased by almost 10 times. As we navigate through innovations in renewable energy resources, TSREDCO has proven its share of dedication to contribute. The Telangana government is continually working towards decreasing dependency towards fossil fuels and increasing the approach on renewable resources. We soon plan to produce more 11,000 megawatts in the next five to six years.”

The TSREDCO supported RenewX as the nodal agency. The expo aims to accelerate the growth of the renewable energy sector in the South India and contribute to the country’s sustainable economic development.

Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said, “South India has been a leader in the adoption of renewable energy sources, particularly in the field of solar power. The region has abundant sunshine and a growing demand for electricity, making it an ideal location for solar power plants. RenewX intends to accelerate the growth of the renewable energy sector in the South India region.”

The expo included more than 100 exhibitors, thought leaders and industry experts from RE sectors. There were also Ministry officials, regulatory bodies, municipalities, utilities & project developers and planners, investors, fund managers, bankers, project developers, and R&D officials.
