Minister for agriculture and Marketing Tummala Nageswara Rao called for organising Ganesh idol immersion procession on a grand scale in the city.
On the occasion of the Ganesh idols’ immersion in the city on Monday, the Minister flagged off the procession at Gandhi Chowk here, along with Collector Muzammal Khan and City police commissioner Sunil Dutt.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister said that all arrangements have been made for the conduct of the procession on a grand scale. He said that he would spare no effort to develop the city, deriving inspiration from the people of the city and their cooperation.
If the eco-friendly Ganesh idols are not installed, in future the Ganesh Utsav Committees would not be allowed to immerse the idols, he said. He called upon the Ganesh Utsav Committees to come forward to save nature and adopt harsh guidelines.
He recalled how the Ganesh festival celebrations started by freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak spread all over the nation. The Ganesh festival is celebrated by all sections of society. Therefore, all arrangements have been made for its peaceful celebration on behalf of the government, he said.
He appealed to the devotees to celebrate the occasion peacefully and give no room for  mistakes in the celebrations. He appealed to the Ganesh Utsav Committee members, devotees, to cooperate with the officials and to the police in peaceful conduct of the event.
He exhorted the people of the city to remain united and achieve development and safeguard our traditions and culture.
Collector Muzammal Khan said that the Khammam district managed to come out of the recent floods with the blessings of the God. During the flood situation, everyone worked hard at the  field level. He lauded the services of Ganesh Utsav Committee members and devotees at th e field level during the crisis.
