Two girls sustain burns as helium balloon explodes

In a freak incident, two girls sustained serious burn injuries as a huge helium balloon exploded at Agiripalli on Tuesday.

Police said that a giant helium balloon was released and it was flying in the air. The balloon was tied to an iron hook on the terrace. A woman, Sheik Alia went to a bank along with her daughter and her friend’s daughter.

When she was busy with bank work in the bank, the two girls Sheik Malin (11) and Parasa Mallika (6) went to the terrace where the helium-filled balloons were flying. When the two girls were playing, the helium-filled balloon exploded in which the two girls sustained severe burn injuries. They were immediately shifted to the government hospital in Vijayawada. GGH Superintendent Sowbagya Lakshmi told the media that the condition of the two girls was critical. She said one of the girls sustained 65 per cent burns and another sustained 50 burn injuries.
