The Mahankali police on Sunday rescued a girl as they nabbed the kidnappers two hours after the incident in Secunderabad.
The police also rescued a seven-month-old boy. The accused were identified as Shaik Imran (36), an auto driver and resident of Falaknuma; and Parveen (30), a housewife and native of Nizamabad. The police received a complaint from Megharaj Kale (40) a balloon seller, who lives on a footpath near the Paradise signal. The incident occurred at 3:30 am on Sunday when Kaley and his family were sleeping.
The accused arrived at the spot and took the 3-year-old victim, identified as Karishma, with them. Kaley and his family were informed regarding the incident by an unidentified person. The complainant searched for his daughter, and failed to locate her. He then filed a complaint with the Mahakali police. A case was registered under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code. Upon interrogation, Imran and Parveen revealed that they planned to abduct children from footpaths and sell them for Rs 2,00,000. The police analysed the CCTV footage and traced the auto-rickshaw used for the kidnapping.
As per the plan, the accused reached Paradise X Roads, abducted the baby from the spot and thereby proceeded to Hanuman Tekdi, Sultan Bazaar where they abducted a 7-month-old baby boy (Shiva Kumar) and fled the spot. The arrest was made under the supervision of B Ramesh, ACP, Mahankali division, North Zone and Kaveti Srinivasulu, SHO, Mahankali, and his team.
