Undeterred by the humiliating debacle in the 2019 elections, Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan has continued his efforts to bolster the party and infuse courage in the demoralised cadres.
Being busy acting in cinemas, Pawan Kalyan devoted time to interacting with party workers, holding meetings and touring the state. Pawan Kalyan earlier actively participated in the Praja Rajyam party, floated by his elder brother megastar Chiranjeevi. However, against his wishes, Chiranjeevi merged the PRP in the Congress.
Later, Pawan Kalyan launched the Jana Sena party but did not contest in the 2014 elections. However, it supported the TDP-BJP alliance and helped contribute to the alliance. However, in 2018, Pawan Kalyan differed with the TDP leadership especially Chandrababu Naidu and his son N Lokesh.
In 2019, the Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena party went to the elections solely but tasted a humiliating rout as it won only one seat. Later Pawan Kalyan also became the victim of YSRCP’s policies. Pawan Kalyan was prevented from taking part in a party programme in Visakhapatnam which angered him. Moreover, he was also confined to a room in a hotel
Pawan Kalyan helped some of the families of tenant farmers and those who ended life due to financial problems by extending Rs 1 lakh from the party fund. The generous act of Pawan Kalyan helped him to earn goodwill among the farming community. The AP politics took an interesting turn on the 10 foundation day programme of JSP as Pawan Kalyan indicated that he would strive to ensure that the anti-YSRCP votes would not split.
Pawan Kalyan was prevented by the police at the AP-Telangana border when he was coming to Vijayawada. In protest against the police harassment, he squatted on the national highway.
Pawan Kalyan turned AP politics again by announcing the TDP-JSP alliance after meeting Chandrababu Naidu in Rajahmundry Central Prison. Pawan Kalyan vehemently resented the arrest of Naidu and termed it as unjust.
Pawan Kalyan made maximum efforts to convince the BJP leadership to join the TDP-JSP alliance. After a series of meetings, Pawan Kalyan succeeded in convincing the BJP leadership to join the TDP-JSP alliance. Pawan Kalyan even sacrificed Anakapalli’s LS seat for the BJP. Pawan Kalyan’s elder brother K Nagababu planned to contest for LS from Anakapalli. Â
Overcoming all hurdles in seat sharing, and not yielding to provocative statements and allegations by the YSRCP leaders for accepting only 21 seats, Pawan Kalyan went to the 2024 elections. He shared the dais with TDP chief Naidu and BJP chief Purandeswari to address many election meetings. The tenacity of Pawan Kalyan to make the YSRCP bit the dust in the elections, yielded results as the YSRCP tasted an unprecedented rout by winning only 10 seats.
