Uttam: We will complete all irrigation projects

Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has said the government will complete all irrigation projects in the State. He promised to ensure that irrigation projects in the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency and undivided Nalgonda district are completed to turn the arid lands of Telangana into fertile soil.
He reviewed the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency irrigation department works, along with Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
The Ministers arrived here by helicopter. Later, they proceeded to Anajipuram outskirts to inspect the Bunadigani irrigation canal. they were accompanied by MLAs.
A PowerPoint presentation was made on the irrigation project works in the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he is assuring the people of Telangana that all irrigation projects in the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency and those in the undivided Nalgonda district would be completed to turn the parched lands here into fertile soil.
The Minister said that Rs 269 crore was needed to complete the Bunadigani Canal, Rs 86 crore for Pillaipalli Canal, and Rs 133 crore for Dharmareddy Canal asking the MLAs to complete the land acquisition for the irrigation projects.  The Minister vowed to allocate any amount of funds to these projects.
In an indirect reference to the BRS government, he said that the previous regime spent Rs 1,80,000 crore under irrigation, but failed to yield desired results.
The Congress regime would not show discrimination between new and old projects and would allocate funds to bring more and more ayacut under irrigation with minimum expenditure, he said.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is determined to ensure that the Musi River is cleansed.
He expressed the view that if the MLAs in the respective constituencies helped in acquiring land, the irrigation project can be completed speedily.
He said that the sinking of the piers of the Medigada project posed a question mark on the project.
Lift irrigation projects, and check dams would be built, he said warning the people against encroachment on tank beds.
Ponguleti Srinivas said that it was eight months since Indiramma Rajyam came to power in Telangana. He, along with Uttam Kumarr Reddy, went to Devadulaproject inMulugu district for which Sonia Gandhi had laid the foundation stone 16 years ago. The project would be completed by March 2026 and it would be dedicated to the nation by Sonia Gandhi. The project has the potential to irrigate 6 lakh acres.
