Social Welfare Minister Dr Merugu Nagarjuna on Thursday discussed with the department officials the management of hostels, admission of students, appointment of tutors, management of study circles, Scheduled Caste component and other aspects. As a part of this, the Minister said that all the vacancies in all the hostels should be filled before July 15 and all the facilities like trunk boxes, plates, glasses, blankets, ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ kits for all the hostel students are provided on time.
The Minister suggested to the authorities to appoint tutors for all the students of class 9 and 10 and take up the plan to increase the pass percentage and to monitor the implementation of the new menu in all the hostels.
Instructions were given to the concerned regarding the management of classes, facilities provided to students and measures to be taken for their progress in study circles. The details of the students enrolled under the Jagananna Videsi Vidya scheme have been ascertained. It has been directed that full details of the scheme should be made available to all, said the minister.
The Minister directed the officials concerned to honour students in social welfare hostels who secured good ranks in Class 10 and intermediate during the academic year 2022-23.
G Jayalakshmi, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Vijaya Krishnan, Director and other senior officials were present.
