The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned well-known Tamil actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in relation to a case concerning her former personal assistant’s suspected involvement in a substantial drug and arms smuggling operation.
On August 18, NIA agents detained 300 kilos of heroin worth Rs 2,100 crore, as well as weapons, from a fishing boat in Kerala. The agency believes the contraband was imported from overseas, thus it has filed a case under several laws against a number of people, including Varalaxmi’s former assistant.
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has been called to testify regarding her relationship with the accused. The well-known actress who has appeared in numerous hit movies has not yet offered any commentary on the matter.
