The 54th National Safety Week celebrations commenced in Kakinada District on Sunday morning. State Labour Minister Vasamshetti Subhash inaugurated the event by hoisting the flag. The event was attended by district factory officials and representatives from industries such as Coromandel, SRMT, Reliance, ONGC, and others. During the meeting, the minister emphasised the importance of raising safety awareness among workers and the general public.
He expressed his gratitude to the IALA of Okalapudi and IALA of Peddapuram for their support in organising the event, as well as to the department officials for their cooperation. He shared his happiness at meeting workers’ families, stating that ever since he took the oath as the state’s Labour Minister, he has considered all workers as his family members. Ensuring their safety is his responsibility, and for this reason, he has taken it upon himself to organise these safety celebrations on a large scale to promote awareness.
The 54th National Safety Week was launched with the slogan “Safety and Well-being are Crucial for a Developed India 2047.” The minister highlighted that the safety of workers is essential for the safety of the state, and the dream of a prosperous Andhra Pradesh will be realised through ensuring worker safety. He stressed that the responsibility for making this dream a reality lies with management, workers, and officials alike.
He further stated that if a worker neglects safety, not only is their own life at risk, but the lives of those around them are also endangered. He reminded them that their families are eagerly waiting for them to return home safely. The minister also mentioned that the government is taking key actions in this regard. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has established a committee under the leadership of Vasudha Mishra to provide recommendations on preventing industrial accidents. The report from this committee is expected within a month, and the minister assured that safety measures will be strictly enforced based on the committee’s recommendations.
The minister urged management, workers, and government machinery to work together towards the goal of “Zero Accidents” and reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the working community. He thanked everyone involved in making the event a success and specifically appreciated the support of industries in providing resources to the Deaf and Dumb School in Kakinada.
