Venkatesh stuns with his film collections, beats Chiru and Allu Arjun

Must read

Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi film ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunnam’ released on January 14, during the Sankranthi festival. There were no big expectations on this film, but because of the promotions and the comedy content, one expected that the film will do reasonably well. But to everyone’s surprise, this Venkatesh film stunned the entire Telugu Film Industry by creating records all over the Telugu states, after its release.
This is the first time that Venkatesh’s film collected more than Rs 100 crore and now after one week, the collections have surpassed Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’. Another interesting thing is that actors like Venkatesh, whose age is 60 plus, collecting such huge collections is definitely a landmark in TFI. Only Chiranjeevi’s comeback and his 150th film ‘Khaidi No.150’ showed good numbers in the first weekend and also his other film ‘Waltair Veerayya’ also collected nearly Rs 130 crore shares in the overall collections.
But now, Venkatesh is going to easily surpass Chiranjeevi’s collections in the coming days and set a new benchmark in the senior actor’s category. Audiences are watching ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunnam’ like never before and it seems, this film is definitely creating history in the collections, say trade pundits. The film already surpassed first week collections of Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramlo’ and now stands in the 7th in the top ten Telugu film collections in Telugu states. If the trend continues like this, the 64-year-old Venkatesh is all set to create history in the coming days. This film is released only in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
