Vizag gears up for ‘PM Suraj’ programme

District Collector Dr. A. Mallikharjuna has unveiled plans for a special initiative named “PM Suraj,” slated for March 13. The program aims to scrutinize and assess the execution of various central government schemes administered under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, featuring direct engagements with scheme beneficiaries. The collector highlighted that PM Suraj will be conducted simultaneously in 510 districts across the nation. One of the key features of the program is the simultaneous approval of loans for one lakh individuals. The event in the Visakhapatnam district will be hosted at the District Collectorate VC Hall.
As part of the preparations for the event, district officials have been instructed to gather and submit details of the beneficiaries in the district. The directive includes providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to sanitation workers and distributing Namaste Ayushman cards to the scheme beneficiaries. Furthermore, bankers have been urged to cooperate and expedite the processing of fresh loan applications. Nodal officers have been appointed to ensure the smooth conduct of the program and oversee all necessary arrangements.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to interact virtually with the beneficiaries and borrowers of schemes implemented under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The virtual program is scheduled for the 13th of March at 4:00 pm. District Collector Dr. A. Mallikharjuna emphasized that checks will be distributed to the borrowers during the interaction. The announcement, made on Saturday, outlines the comprehensive efforts being undertaken to ensure the success of the PM Suraj program, reflecting the commitment to effective governance and the welfare of citizens in the Visakhapatnam district.
