Wanaparthy will emerge as major education hub: Niranjan

Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy has predicted that Wanaparthy will emerge as one of the major seats of education after Hyderabad in future and maintained that he has been striving hard to locate all educational institutions and universities here.

Addressing the students at an Atmeeya Sammelan held here on Friday, he said that a medical college, nursing college, engineering college, fisheries college, agriculture college and women’s degree college here with the blessings of the CM.

Prior to statehood to Telangana, the number of medical colleges in undivided AP was only five, including the three in Hyderabad, he said. However, in new state of Telangana there is one medical college for every district, he said. In new state of Telangana, over six lakh IT jobs have been created, he said attributing it to the transparent industrial policy pursued by the state government.

He appealed to the youth to pursue higher education with the support of the State Government and come up in flying colours. He asked them to set a lofty goal and work with dedication to achieve it. Pverty would is not a hindrance to achievement of goals, he said quoting the example of Dr BR Ambedkar.

Last year, the total area in the country under the paddy crop at 94 lakh acres, including 56.40 lakha cres in Telangana. Annually, 2.70 crore tons of paddy is being produced in Telangana, , he said.

This is due to the encouragement given to the farmers by supplying them free power round the clock, by providing irrigatin facility, procurement of the paddy. Not only farmers, but also the agriculture workers and those who are dependent on agriculture and its allied sectors thrived with the development of agriculture, he said.

With the strengthening of agriculture sector, lakhs of persons find employment in fertiliser, agro-machinery, fuel industries, food processingunits and so on, he said adding that workers from 14 states migrated to the state in search of work in agriculture and industrial sectors.

He put general knowledge questions to the students and obtained answers. He distributed prizes among the winners.

State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Gellu Srinivas Yadav, noted poet Koyi Koteswara Rao, BRS district president and Municipal chairman Gattu Yadav, market committee chairman P Ramesh Goud and party functionaries and others were present.
