Water supply to be streamlined in city

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has constructed 164 reservoirs in ORR phase I and a pipeline network of 1,571 km has been laid in the year 2023. A total of 73 reservoirs in ORR phase II are being constructed and almost all of them have reached the final stage.
Water can be provided every other day to the areas which currently get water supply once in three days after completing the rest of the projects. The current per capita water supply, which is between 75 to 100 litre (lpcd), will increase to 150 lpcd.
In the year of 2023, two of the sewage treatment plants (STP) were constructed in Hyderabad. One is in Kokapet with the capacity of 15 mega liters per day and another one is in Durgam Cheruvu with the capacity of 7 mega liters per day.
In the162 silt vehicles distribution on Gandhi Jayanti, around 500 people will be directly benefited. The water board has specially designed an app named Nanyata to regularly test water supply and quality with the participation of consumers.
HMWSSB bagged a total of 5 awards this year 2023. Best Management on May 1, Pollution Control Board (PCB) on July 5, Global Innovation in Water Technology – 2023 Award on August 1, Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) National Award – 2023 on November 27.
