As the BJP is in power at the Centre the Telangana Government will take the guidance of the two Union Ministers from Telangana and try to get the Centre’s approval for the BC Reservation Bill, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Point along with BC MLAs on Monday after the approval of the BC Bills by the Legislative Houses, Ponnam said, “We will achieve 42 per cent reservations. This is an indicator of the future. We will continue the struggle. We will go to New Delhi and get approval for 42 per cent reservations.”
Ponnam said that the BRS, the BJP, the AIMIM and the CPI supported in the Assembly the proposal to provide 42 per cent reservations for BCs in educational institutions, jobs and in local bodies.
He said that the Bill would be sent to the Centre for inclusion in Schedule 9 and would be passed unanimously. By getting this Bill approved, the government has decided to implement the ideas of Telangana communities who are not properly represented, he said.
“I want the Prime Minister to lift the 50 per cent limit on reservations. The Telangana Government will achieve success by bringing all political parties together under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. After giving 42 per cent reservations and putting them in Schedule 9, we will go to New Delhi under the leadership of the Chief Minister,” Ponnam said.
