Posani Krishna Murali, chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Film, TV, and Drama Development Corporation, said that Nandi Natakotsavam, a week-long Telugu drama festival, will begin at Venkateswara Vignana Mandir at Guntur on Saturday. The government extended full cooperation for the Telugu theatre industry and the efforts of the Film, TV, and Theater Development Corporation to organize the event. The festival will conclude on December 29.
Krishna Murali added that 1,200 artistes from 38 theater societies across the State are participating in the festival for 73 awards. Fifteen judges will select the winners. Two committees are working on behalf of the organization to host actors and judges.
The auditorium has sanitation, medical emergency desk, fire service, uninterrupted power supply etc. Arrangements were made by ‘Surabhi’ for special lighting and sound on the stage. There will be five shows in five categories every day from 9.30 am to 10 pm. Entry is free. A limited number of food courts have been allowed to be set up on the auditorium premises for the convenience of the audience.
T. Vijay Kumar Reddy, Andhra Pradesh State Film TV Theater Development Corporation Managing Director and Information Public Relations Department Secretary, said all arrangements were made for the hassle-free transport and accommodation of the theater activists.
On the inaugural day, three plays will be performed — ‘Sri Kalahasthishwara Mahatyam’ at 11 am, ‘Erra Kalua’ at 2.30 pm, ‘Nanna… Nenochchesta…’ at 5 pm and Sri Rama Bhakta Tulsi Dasu at 6 30 pm.
