Will BJP move boomerang?

An exodus from the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Telangana unit is likely to begin shortly, with several prominent members reconsidering their association with the saffron brigade in view of the change in the party’s state leadership.

Atleast three former MPs, one former minister and one sitting MLA are planning to leave the party as they have lost hopes on the party’s prospects for growth in the state.

Sources said that most of these leaders appear inclined towards the Congress and that for a few of them it would only be homecoming. Sources indicated that the Congress leadership was making calls to these BJP leaders.

Sources said that ever since the change in BJP state presidentship gained momentum, TPCC had been on a roll to bring back important leaders.

One of the most anticipated exit is that of Komatireddy RajgopalReddy.

However, he has been named as Member of the BJP National Executive Committee. Sources said that RajgopalReddy may hang on for sometime but would eventually reconsider his decision based on political equations at the time of elections.

Even Rahul Gandhi, during his recent public meeting in Khammam, gave a call to leaders to “return to the party”.

A few leaders who had weighed between BJP and Congress and ended up joining BJP might return. Former minister and Congress senior leader Dr A. Chandrashekhar who joined BJP may be rethinking his options. Even those leaders who had switched from BRS to BJP may consider leaving it, including a prominent former MP who joined during the Munugode elections.

It may be mentioned here that Revanth Reddy earlier said that G Vivek, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy had quit the Congress in the past due to political compulsions.

“These leaders had joined the BJP not because they had any faith in the saffron ideology, but due to their own reasons.

They might have thought they would have better future if they joined the BJP,” he said.
