Industries Minister KT Rama Rao seems to have kicked off his election campaign.

Addressing CII Telangana’s annual session KTR said, “Since this is my last meeting before the next elections, let me also request to vote me back to power and ensure that we come back as the government in 2023.”

He said he is confident of coming back and that if the BRS forms government, the life sciences sector will continue to grow.

CII Telangana organised its annual session and conference on “Beyond India@75” with the theme “Accelerating Telangana Growth Momentum – Resilience through Competitiveness, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Sustainability” in Hyderabad. KTR inaugurated the conference and handed over the Industries Awards 2022 instituted by the Government of Telangana and the Haritha Haram awards instituted by the CII to the winners.

He said that the Centre has not supported the Hyderabad Pharma City, the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park and didn’t fulfil the promises in the AP Reorganisation Act.

“The Centre gave no special incentives for industrialisation to Telangana and AP as promised in the AP Reorganisation Act. Where is the meaning of calling ourselves the world’s largest democracy if APRA promises are not kept? They are punishing ‘performing’ states,” KTR said.

In his inaugural address, KTR said that Telangana is increasingly transitioning into a knowledge-based economy. “The smart factory or intelligent factory is no longer a vision for us. We now have many smart factories in Telangana. Industry 4.0 also aids the transition into a knowledge economy by increasing reliance on intellectual capabilities than on physical inputs. Nine billion doses or 35% of the total vaccines are produced in Hyderabad now and by the end of next year, production may go up to 14 billion doses which would be about 50% of the global capacity.
