Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao suggested that the construction of the Narmetta palm oil factory being built in Siddipet district should be completed by July.
He advised officials to work with commitment so that the Oil Fed organisation becomes financially strong and farmers get profits.
Tummala held a review meeting with officials on the performance of Oil Fed at the Telangana Oil Fed office at the Industries Bhavan here under the chairmanship of Chairman Janga Raghava Reddy on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Tummala said that officials should continuously monitor oil palm nurseries, identify plants properly at the nursery level and provide farmers with info about intercropping and take the help of agricultural scientists.
In addition to encouraging oil palm cultivation, Oil Fed should try to increase the area used for cultivating oil palms and bring five lakh acres under oil palm cultivation, he said.
He advised officials to appoint employees familiar with new technologies in all departments and to prepare appropriate plans accordingly.
Tummala said the company should also market Oil Fed products and by-products.
