Is the State government contemplating to abrogate the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board and form a new TTD Board by January 14 ?Reliable sources say that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government is contemplating abrogation of the existing TTD Board to form a new one. Jagan Mohan Reddy, as per his new political strategy, wanted to relieve Y V Subba Reddy from the responsibilities of TTD Board Chairman as he wants to utilise his services in the North AP districts.
Significantly, speculation is rife that Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to appoint ‘Janga Krishna Murthy’ as the Chairman of TTD Board.Krishna Murthy is a popular Backward Class leader belonging to the Yadava community. The unexpected major development may take place before the Sankranti festival, according to reliable sources.
YSRCP sources say that YSRCP president and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to utilise the services of YV Subba Reddy in the North AP districts to strengthen the party before the Assembly elections.
The Yadava community constitutes a large chunk in the Backward Classes and by appointing Janga Krishna Murthy, the Chief Minister wants to impress upon the BCs and thus get their maximum votes. Krishna Murthy is already playing a key role in attracting the BC voters toward the YSRCP.
The Jagan Mohan Reddy government earlier constituted a 50-member TTD Board which gave rise to a major controversy and resentment in the Hindu community. Now, the government has decided to constitute a new TTD Board without giving room for controversy.
According to the sources, the government has also decided to abolish local temple management committees to set up new ones.After relieving YV Subba Reddy from the TTD Board chairman responsibilities, he will be asked to focus on North AP districts to ensure that the YSRCP wins the maximum number of seats in the next elections.
According to sources, YV Subba Reddy is not evincing interest to continue in TTD Board chairman post either. Subba Reddy reportedly has differences with TTD EO Dharma Reddy.
Another reason for Jagan Reddy’s decision to give TTD Chairman post Janga Krishna Murthy is to checkmate former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who often claims that the prestigious post was given to a BC leader during his regime.
“A statement will be made by the government on appointing a new chairman to the TTD Board on January 3 or 4,” a YSRCP senior leader said.
