Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has asserted that the government will not spare anyone involved in the attack on the Collector in Kodangal constituency, however powerful he or she is.
The Minister was referring to the violence during the Vikarabad Collector’s visit to Lagacharla village to gauge the opinion of the farmers who would lose their lands for the proposed pharma company.
Speaking to the media, Venkat Reddy described the incident as a “premeditated act.” The Minister accused Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders of orchestrating the violence. It was meant to diver the attention of people from the case in which BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) was involved, he said. He emphasised that KTR’s arrest was inevitable, alleging that he had diverted municipal funds to foreign countries without approval from the Reserve Bank of India. He revealed that ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) officials had sought permission from the Governor for the arrest, and if granted, KTR’s arrest would happen.
On the issue of the Collector’s attack, the Minister demanded a public apology from former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the actions of his party members.
The Minister accused BRS leaders of instigating the violence and made it clear that those responsible for the attack would not be spared. “We will not forgive those who carried out this attack, no matter who they are,” Venkat Reddy stated. He also highlighted that the BRS leaders who were involved in the attack were in constant communication with KTR over the phone, which, according to him, further exposed the party’s involvement. “We will ensure that those who have engaged in such activities face severe consequences. We will not tolerate such acts of violence.” The Minister also expressed concern that the BRS leaders, who after losing power, were resorting to such tactics.
