‘Will talk about politics a month before polls’

Bhongir Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reiterated that he will talk about politics only a month before the next elections. Speaking to the media after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in New Delhi, he said that he will say whether he will contest to the LS or the Assembly only then.

“I cannot reveal what I discussed with the Prime Minister as I spoke about issues concerning Telangana and development of Bhongir. I am not worried at not getting a place in the AICC committees,” he said. The Bhongir MP said that he had resigned quit his minister post during the Telangana movement and positions in committees don’t count.

On behalf of the people of Telangana, Venkat thanked Prime Minister Modi for giving him time as soon as he asked. He said that he talked to Modi for about 20 minutes.

Venkat said construction of the Musi project was taken up to supply drinking water. But the Musi River has become a danger due to pollution, he said, and added that he had asked the Prime Minister to clean it up.

The Sabarmati River of Gujarat was also in a similar condition. He said that about a crore people are suffering due to the pollution in the Musi River. Venkat said that he wanted to make the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway six-lane. He explained to the Prime Ministe r that the delay in providing six-lanes by GMR Company was causing accidents.

He revealed that the Prime Minister had asked if the Telangana budget is surplus. He said that he had replied to the PM, “You know the situation better than us. I told the PM raising my hands that I came to you in despair.”

Venkat said that he had urged the Prime Minister to run MMTS trains from Hyderabad to Jangaon. The MP said that the TS government did not give a matching grant and informed that he will seek an appointment with Chief Minister KCR.
