Winds of change blowing between BRS and BJP

With the monsoon entering Telangana, winds of change seem to be blowing between the State and the Centre too.
On Friday, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao was in New Delhi meeting Union Ministers. On Saturday, the BRS will attend a meeting called by the Centre. Political observers point out that the timing of events cannot go unnoticed and that optics are at play.

The fact that when 15 opposition parties were united in Patna against the BJP, the BRS Working President was in Delhi meeting Union Ministers for the ‘sake of Telangana’ raises an eyebrow.

KCR has been trying to stitch an anti-Modi front but seems to have given up and is going ahead with an alternative agenda.

The BRS which used to skip meetings will now be attending a meeting on Manipur violence called by the Union Home Minister.

State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Boinapally Vinod Kumar will attend the all-party meeting being held at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi at 3 pm on Saturday under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on behalf of the BRS. State Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao took the decision. The BRS also called out the Congress for not taking a stand on the Delhi incident.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been bashing the Congress and is now hardly calling out the BJP.

In fact, his recent statement in Maharashtra that Modi is a good friend and that they had met at NITI Aayog and the organisation of state meetings is also an indication.

Political analysts believe that optics are definitely at play, this may not go as an alliance. Sources said that even Amit Shah is open to negotiations with regional parties and recently called on to Chandrababu Naidu. “The BJP’s main agenda is to retain power at the Centre and for that it is gathering NDA support. If that happens, currently their allies have reduced. However, the BRS cannot be seen with the BJP directly like Naidu and Shah,” said a political analyst. “Be it KTR’s statements in Delhi, or Kavitha running into Bandi Sanjay at an event in Nizamabad, everything needs to be seen in minute detail. Local BJP leaders may not agree, but KCR deals with national leaders always,” political analysts said.

However, local BJP leaders continue to resist change. BJP State President Sanjay said that this is a drama by the BRS. BJP leader said that for the BJP, the Congress is the main opposition at the Centre and KCR wants to cash on it in the state after Karnataka.
