The Congress government will not allow the privatization of Singareni mines (SCCL), Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. Participating in a meeting at Manuguru Singareni OC-2 during the campaign for SCCL union elections on Monday, Ponguleti said that he had appealed to the workers to vote for TBGKS during the last elections. However, the BRS government did not fulfil its assurances. “Now I am appealing to you to vote for INTUC’s watch symbol. The BRS government did not conduct elections as it knew that it would lose as it had failed to fulfil the assurances given to SCCL workers. I am here as a minister to fulfil the assurances of this people’s government. I will fulfil all the assurances given from this dais,” Ponguleti said. He said that the TBGKS is now saying that it will fulfil all its assurances when it had failed when its government (BRS government) was in power and that the AITUC had refused to contest elections in alliance with INTUC. He said that the Congress government would direct the Singareni management to pay Income Tax on allowances the workers get and that the government would provide jobs by opening new coal mines. Ponguleti asked Singareni workers to vote for INTUC (Congress affiliated Union) instead of TBGKS (BRS affiliated Union) as he was deceived by the BRS government and faced a lot of trouble
