Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada is set to host a free workshop, ‘Reading Without Seeing’, aimed at empowering visually impaired individuals through assistive technology. Organised by the college’s Higher Education for Persons with Special Needs (HEPSN) wing, in collaboration with Enable India, Telugu Vision, and the Visually Challenged Employees Association Andhra Pradesh, the workshop will take place on November 9.
In a poster release event held at the Principal’s chamber, College Principal Kishore, Visually Challenged Employees Association president Ravindra Babu, Enable India trainer Venkat, and HEPSN coordinator Dr G Sahaya Baskaran introduced the initiative.
The workshop will guide 80 participants through assistive technologies such as Android’s Talkback, Seeing AI, and travel apps like Uber. Devices like talking thermometres and Orbit Readers will also be demonstrated, providing tools to boost independence.
Highlighting the importance of AI in enhancing self-reliance for visually challenged individuals, Ravindra Babu noted that expert trainers from Enable India and Telugu Vision would deliver hands-on training. Those interested can register by contacting Venkat from Enable India at 96529 75737.
