In a bid to bring the electrifying atmosphere of the World Cup final match between India and Australia to the masses, secretary of the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), S Gopinath Reddy, has announced a groundbreaking initiative. Massive screens will be erected in 13 districts across the State, aiming to accommodate a staggering two lakh spectators, all with free entry.
Reddy underscored the association’s commitment by shouldering the entire cost of this grand event, providing a unique and inclusive experience for cricket enthusiasts. He highlighted collaborative efforts with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, showcasing various revolutionary programmes, including the successful Andhra Premier League (APL), enhanced stadium facilities, nutritional support for athletes, and the construction of a new stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Reddy shared the success of big screens set up in Visakhapatnam, Kadapa, and Vijayawada for the semi-final match, which prompted the decision to extend the viewing experience to district centers for the final. He revealed Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s appreciation for this decision, as the association aims to ensure a comfortable viewing experience for at least 10,000 people at each location. This includes additional amenities such as RJ, DJ, special lighting, advanced sound systems, and food courts.
Furthermore, Reddy disclosed plans for a new stadium in Visakhapatnam, at an estimated at Rs 300 crore, with support and a quick allocation of Rs 100 crore worth of land from the Chief Minister. If all goes according to plan, the foundation stone for the stadium, boasting a capacity exceeding 50,000, will be laid within a month.
