The ruling YSRC leaders and activists staged a rasta roko at Gudur on the Machilipatnam-Vijayawada highway on Saturday in protest against the burning of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s huge cut-out banner by Jana Sena leaders. The YSRC leaders alleged that Jana Sena leaders, unable to digest the successes of CM Jagan, poured petrol on the display board and burned it with jealousy. They squatted on the highway airing slogans demanding the arrest of JS leaders which stopped the traffic.

Machilipatnam MP of YSRC Vallabhaneni Bala Showry rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident. He expressed anguish over the burning of CM Jagan’s display banner. The MP called Krishna district SP P Jashua on the phone and asked to initiate stern action against the culprits with immediate effect.

A senior leader of YSRC Medical Wing Dr. Mehboob Sheikh alleged that the Jana Sena leaders and activists are trying to create unrest in the state and become a bunch of psychos with no political agenda. He demanded that the police identify those who vandalized the CM Jagan Flexi Banner and take strict action. He said that Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu has found that defeat is inevitable, hence he declared that 2024 will be his last election. Objecting to abusive remarks of Naidu against CM Jagan, he commented that Chandrababu spoke like a street bully during his three-day visit to the Kurnool district.

Later as the police assured to identify the culprits and initiate stern action, the protestors called off the road blockade. The police said that they are investigating the case from various angles and would arrest the culprits as early as possible.
