85 red sanders logs seized, nine smugglers arrested

The police seized 85 red sanders logs worth Rs 1.20 crore and arrested 9 smugglers in three separate raids on Saturday. CI Ramakrishna told the media here on Saturday that on a tip-off a police team conducted a raid at the Papanasam area and seized 30 red sanders. Another team seized 30 red sander logs on the ghat road at 7th milestone.

The police team conducted a raid at the 6th mile stone on the ghat road and seized 25 red sander logs. The police teams in the three raids seized a total number of 85 red sander logs weighing 1.5 tonnes worth Rs 1.20 crore. The police arrested nine red sanders smugglers in the three raids and seized four two-wheelers and one Ashok good carrier. The police launched a search for the red sanders smugglers who fled after noticing the police.
