Unveils comprehensive strategy aimed at purging the State of cannabis
Palla Srinivasa Rao, the newly appointed president of the Andhra Pradesh TDP, has unveiled an audacious plan to transform Visakhapatnam into a vibrant economic hub, pledging to eradicate its dubious distinction as the ‘ganja capital’.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Srinivas Rao strongly criticised the current YSRCP administration for what he described as their failure to prevent Visakhapatnam from becoming a centre of illegal drug trade. “Visakhapatnam, under the YSRCP regime, has unfortunately become associated with unlawful activities,” Rao stated. “Nevertheless, our coalition government aims to usher in a new era focused on promoting strong economic growth and revitalising the city’s reputation.”
Promising swift and decisive action, Rao unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at purging the State of cannabis and rectifying what he termed as unjust legal prosecutions against thousands of individuals. “Within the first 100 days of our tenure, we will quash these false cases, ensuring justice and rebuilding community trust,” he affirmed. Rao further outlined ambitious economic initiatives, including the transformation of Anna canteens into sustainable trust models to ensure their enduring impact. He also set an aggressive timeline for the comprehensive development of Amaravathi, projecting substantial progress within the coming year.
Underlining his commitment to correcting past governmental oversights, Rao criticised the handling of the Polavaram project and pledged accelerated efforts under TDP’s stewardship. “We take full accountability for expediting this critical project to completion,” he assured, signaling a proactive approach to governance. In an internal rallying call, Rao championed the cultivation of dynamic leadership within the TDP ranks and pledged enhanced collaboration with allied parties such as BJP and Jana Sena. “Empowering young leaders and making decisive, timely decisions are pivotal to our vision for transformative governance,” he emphasised.
Addressing local grievances head-on, Rao promised a focused campaign against corruption and vowed to resolve lingering land disputes plaguing Visakhapatnam. He also staunchly opposed the proposed privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, pledging to exert substantial pressure on the Central government to reconsider. Rao outlined an ambitious agenda that positioned the TDP as architects of Visakhapatnam’s rejuvenation.
