YSRCP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy said that the current Andhra Pradesh Assembly (15th AP Legislature) ends in nine months. Earlier, the Election Commission of India announced the dates for the 2019 election on March 10, 2019, and the schedule for AP’s 16th assembly elections will be announced after another six months by March 15, 2024. The MP said that the election schedule was announced on March 10 and the results were announced on May 23. Polling for all 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Legislative Assembly in Andhra Pradesh was held on a single day (April 11, 2019). The current ruling YSRC party saw a landslide victory in the 2019 elections while TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister for the last time.
Vijayasai Reddy recalled that six months before the election dates were announced, there were allegations that the then-ruling party was trying to illegally use the personal details of voters in the state. Later, it was not just allegations but turned out as fact. Based on the details of voters collected in the name of door-to-door surveys, the party started a campaign to remove the votes of people who were considered to be fans of the then-opposition YSRC Party, led by party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. As a result, the then-TDP government was able to stop undemocratic actions.
The MP said that with the timely action taken by the Election Commission, the polling was conducted peacefully and smoothly. In the counting of votes held on May 23, the YSRC party won 22 Lok Sabha and 151 Assembly seats in accordance with the will of nearly five and a half crore Andhra citizens and registered a historic victory. After the tenure of five years i.e. 6 months before the announcement of the schedule of AP 16th Assembly elections to be held by the end of May 2024, the state is in a normal situation as compared to the rule of Telugu Desam.
Election and political pundits and analysts predict that the ruling YSRC party will register a big win in the Assembly and Parliament elections for the second time in a row due to YSRCP’s policies and programmes. The money transfer process through welfare schemes has been successfully implemented for the last four and a half years as per the election plan (manifesto) announced before the 2019 April-May elections as well as the newly designed public welfare schemes.
In this background, people are eagerly waiting for the dates of the AP Assembly elections which will be announced in March next year. The majority of the people have no doubts about YSRC winning the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections once again. It is a well-known truth that people are ready to pave the way for their welfare and progress by winning the YSRC party for the second time in a row, said MP Vijayasai Reddy.
