Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief and former MLC, Gidugu Rudra Raju, unveiled the party’s strategic plans in the State.
Addressing a press conference at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Saturday, Raju disclosed that Congress party State affairs in charge and MP Manikam Tagore would embark on a statewide tour from January 8 to 9. During this period, Tagore is slated to stay in Vijayawada, participating in an orientation programme aimed at preparing party leadership for the impending general elections, specifically focusing on the mandal committee to State committee executive bodies.
The announcement comes after a crucial meeting in New Delhi between All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikharjuna Kharge, former president Rahul Gandhi, and the Congress Party Coordination Committee, including APCC chief Rudra Raju.
In response to the upcoming elections, Raju emphasised the Congress party’s commitment to fortifying its presence across the State, with specific programmes outlined.
Former minister JD Seelam is scheduled to convene a meeting with Christian, Dalit Christian, and 15 other organisations on December 31. AICC chief Mallikharjuna Kharge is set to host the PCC presidents’ meeting on January 4 in New Delhi.
Raju further revealed that, according to information from the party’s high command, Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s daughter, YS Sharmila, is expected to join the Congress party soon. Raju extended a warm welcome to Sharmila and affirmed the party’s openness to embracing new members.
“I will soon meet former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to extend an invitation to join the party. Many former MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders are in touch with me, and we are committed to the decisions of the AICC leadership,” stated Rudra Raju.
Addressing potential alliances, Raju confirmed discussions with CPI national secretary Dr K Narayana and expressed the party’s readiness to collaborate with like-minded political entities. He clarified that recent talks between Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Siva Kumar and former AP CM Chandrababu Naidu were likely politically motivated.
Raju also seized the opportunity to release a book by APCC general secretary B Nageswara Rao titled “139 Years Congress Party President Photos Book” during the press conference. He criticized the YSRCP rule, alleging a lack of ethical standards and pointing out failures over the past five years.
APCC Working president Sunkara Padmasri and other leaders, including Meesala Rajeswara Rao, M Suresh, N Narasimha Rao, and B Kiran, were present at the press conference.
