Zee5 announces a star-studded project

ZEE5 has announced the release of Manorathangal, a major Malayalam anthology series set to premiere on August 15. The series is a tribute to the 90-year legacy of literary legend Madath Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair, affectionately known as M.T.
Featuring nine interconnected stories, Manorathangal brings together a stellar lineup of South Indian cinema’s finest talents. The anthology showcases stories penned by M.T. Vasudevan Nair himself, exploring the complexities of human nature.
The series includes segments directed by renowned filmmakers such as Priyadarshan, Ranjith, Shyamaprasad and Mahesh Narayanan and stars prominent actors like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil and Parvathy Thiruvothu, among others.
The director, Priyadarshan, stated, “Dreaming is a part of life, and I had dreamt of making films. It was a dream come true to make a film with MT Vasudevan Nair. This moment is very special to me as I am now making my 97th film. In the past, I had tried to create a film with MT Vasudevan Nair but couldn’t. I had almost given up on that dream, but then this opportunity happened, for which I thank God. I have fulfilled a big dream and have done two films in Manorathangal: Olavum Theeravum and Shilalikhithangal. As Mohanlal mentioned before, my desire to make a film began with reading the script of Olavum Theeravum. I thank God for making this dream come true and wish MT Vasudevan Nair a very happy birthday.”
Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer at ZEE5 India, expressed excitement about the project, noting its celebration of M.T.’s literary brilliance and Malayalam cinema’s creative excellence. The anthology will also be available in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.
With its star-studded cast and rich storytelling, Manorathangal promises to be a landmark addition to Malayalam cinema.
