Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Forest K Pawan Kalyan underlined the need of developing the zoo parks in the state with international standards.
He directed the officials concerned to formulate plans for the development of zoos and viability to establish new zoo parks across the state. The 14 th governing body meeting of Zoo Park Authority of AP was held in the camp office of the deputy Chief Minister at Mangalagiri near here on Wednesday. The deputy Chief Minister presided over the meeting as chairman of the Zoo Parks Authority.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan asked the officials to formulate plans to attract more tourists to the zoo parks in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. He said that the possibilities of setting up new zoo parks in the state should be examined.
“The officials should focus on developing zoo parks with international standards and make them more attractive to tourists with environment-friendly programmes. Focus should also be laid on aspects such as providing funds for the development of zoo parks should be laid,” he observed.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the need of Public Private Partnership (PPP) system and importing rare animals to attract more people to zoo parks. The zoo parks should be modernized in a way that they create a good wildlife experience, he told them. The Corporates should be involved in the development of zoo parks and take up necessary development programs for zoo parks with the CSR funds of industries, he told the officials.
The deputy Chief Minister suggested that entrepreneurs should be advised to create activities such as adopting animals individually and taking donor’s support for development, adding that special meetings “Tea with Deputy CM” should be organised during his visits to Tirupati and Visakhapatnam to promote the program.
Dy. CM Pawan Kalyan also ordered the officials to ascertain the feasibility of establishing new zoo parks in the state and submit a report to him in this regard. Forest department PCCF (HOFF) Chiranjeevi Chowary, Tourism commissioner K Kannababu, forest department officials AK Naik, Santhipriya Pande, Sharavanan and other officials were among those who attended the meeting.
