Must read

Actor-turned-politician Konidala Pawan Kalyan’s declaration of assets during his nomination filing for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections indicated a staggering surge of 215 per cent, totalling Rs 164.52 crore, compared to Rs 52 crore in 2019. This exponential rise consists of assets worth Rs 41.65 crore, including a fleet of luxurious vehicles valued at Rs 14 crore, along with immovable assets worth Rs 94.41 crore, which consist of land properties and residential buildings, notably in Hyderabad’s upscale Jubilee Hills area. However, despite his substantial assets, Pawan Kalyan’s educational qualification is only a Class 10 pass.
Complaint to EC
Moreover, amid Pawan Kalyan’s nomination rally, a controversy surfaced regarding his use of the National Flag. Pawan Kalyan was seen holding the National Flag during the rally, prompting a complaint to the Election Commission by journalist Nagarjuna Reddy.
In addition to these issues, Pawan Kalyan faces a considerable debt of Rs 65.76 crore, juxtaposing his financial prosperity with significant liabilities. Furthermore, his income for the fiscal year 2022-23 experienced a notable decline from the previous year, suggesting potential fluctuations in his financial status.

Despite his burgeoning assets, Pawan Kalyan’s political journey has been marked by challenges, including eight criminal cases primarily related to provocative speeches. His previous electoral attempts in 2019 yielded no success, with defeats in both Assembly seats he contested. These hurdles underscore the complexities of navigating the intersection between fame, wealth, and political aspirations.

Amid the nomination process, instances of opposition alliance members violating election protocols, such as the 100-m rule at the Returning Officer’s office, further highlight the contentious nature of electoral campaigns. The altercation involving activists breaching the office adds to the charged atmosphere surrounding Pawan Kalyan’s candidature, reflecting broader tensions within the political landscape.
