Sridhar Babu stated that since the Congress administration took office, there has been a surge in investments from international and domestic companies, choosing Telangana as their gateway to India’s growing life sciences ecosystem. He emphasised that investments in pharmaceutical manufacturing, R&D centres and innovation hubs have made Telangana a global leader in the life sciences sector.
He further noted that the momentum includes both new investments and expansions by established companies, demonstrating their trust in Telangana’s business-friendly environment. The Minister pointed to Genome Valley, India’s first and largest organised R&D cluster, as central to the strategy, attracting major industry players and research organisations.

Sridhar Babu also mentioned significant investments in Genome Valley, including Rs 2,000 crore from KrKA and Laurus Labs for pharmaceutical manufacturing and Rs 250 crore from Laurus for an R&D centre, both creating thousands of jobs.
Other investments include Takeda’s partnership with Biological E for dengue vaccine production and the establishment of a bio-manufacturing facility by Thermo Fisher. Additionally, global companies like Amgen, Zoetis and Olympus are setting up major facilities in Hyderabad.
The Minister concluded by announcing a dedicated life sciences policy to streamline processes, attract investments and drive sustainable growth in the sector, solidifying Telangana’s position in the global life sciences value chain.
