Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the compensation disbursed to those affected by heavy rains and floods in the State. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the financial assistance provided so far, along with the issues and complaints raised by the victims. They reported that Rs 588.59 crore has been deposited in the accounts of the flood victims out of a total compensation of Rs 602 crore.
Payments to farmers under the crop damage compensation scheme total Rs 301 crore, while the remaining amount is allocated to victims whose houses and shops were inundated by the floods. Officials explained that the government utilised Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to deposit cash into the victims’ accounts, with approximately 97 percent of the compensation successfully credited. However, they noted that payments were not processed for 22,185 victims due to technical issues and errors in their bank account details.
Reasons for the non-deposit include lack of Aadhaar linkage with bank accounts, mismatched Aadhaar information, inactive or closed accounts, incorrect account registrations, and other discrepancies. Victims have been advised to visit their banks and complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process, which is expected to resolve the issues within two to three days. The officials also informed the CM that money has been transferred to the bank accounts of those who addressed the technical problems on Monday.
