Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers visited the greenery on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). A team of 16 IFS officials studied the performance of SCADA Centre, a system for the maintenance of 160 km of greenery, unlike anywhere else in the country.

The officers from nine states of 1989 to 2014 batches visited the Outer Ring Road (ORR) greenery on Tuesday morning as part of a compulsory training course on Environmental Impact Assessment: Need and Methods for Assessment. Among them is PCCF Omprakash Singh, a senior officer of 1989 (Orissa Cadre) batch. They enquired about the special care being taken in the management of ORR greenery.

Dr B Prabhakar, HMDA Urban Forest Director, explained the steps being taken in the management of ORR greenery. He said that after receiving the World Green City Award, their responsibility has increased a lot.

Prabhakar explained to them that under the guidance of Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao and under the supervision of Metropolitan Commissioner Arvid Kumar, a special drip system has been set up for the maintenance of greenery on the Outer Ring Road, and central lighting (electrification) arrangements have been made for the entire ORR to avoid accidents at night.

Following the ORR field visit, a team of IFS officers studied the functioning of the ORR Drip Automation Centre at Nanakramguda.

They saw different types of flowering plants on ORR. Director Prabhakar informed them that flowering plants will be seen on the outer ring road throughout the year. A team of IFS officials also inspected the solar cycle track works on the service road along the Outer Ring Road. Later, they also inspected HMDA Dundigal Nursery.
