ACB arrests three for bribery at TSSPDCL

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana state has caught Addl. Asst. Engineer P. Prasad Babu, Line Inspector Inapudi Srinivas Rao and a private person, Dasi Gowtham, for demanding and accepting bribes. Prasad Babu was working at the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) Chilukanagar section in Uppal Sub-Division, Habsiguda, on Tuesday.

According to sources, Prasad Babu had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an electrical contractor, Naveen Kumar Mamindla, to prepare a work estimation report and forward the same to ADE and DE for sanction, and furnish a copy of the estimation to the complainant. Babu had asked Inapudi Srinivas rao to mediate in the transaction and settled the bribe for Rs 5,000. Srinivas Rao, in turn, directed Gowtham to accept the bribe money.

The ACB officials, who had received a complaint from Mamindla, trapped Prasad Babu in his office at around 11:40 am on May 2, while he was accepting the bribe. Later, the officials also arrested Inapudi Srinivas rao and Dasi Gowtham for their involvement in the bribery case.

The ACB officials have revealed that Gowtham, the private person, had accepted the bribe amount of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant, and the trap amount was recovered from his possession at his instance. The chemical test conducted on the fingers of his right hand yielded a positive result.
