Director of Prohibition and Excise Department Sarfaraz Ahmed said that there is a possibility of illegal transportation of country liquor from Maharashtra to Telangana and added that excise and police departments should work together to prevent it.
DGP Anjani Kumar held a video conference with Police Commissioners, SPs, Vigilance Officers, Civil Supply Officers and Excise Officers to prevent smuggling of paddy from bordering states as procurement of Yasangi paddy has begun.
He said that the shipment of duty-free liquor should be prevented. He said that medium and premier liquors are mostly being illegally brought to Telangana from the states of Goa and Karnataka and this should be stopped. Mainly, transport and other vehicles should be checked extensively, he said.
Sarfaraz Ahmed informed that the SPs and Excise officers in the districts should jointly meet and formulate an action plan. Gudumba cases are being reported in Mahbubabad, Bhupalpalli, Nagar Kurnool, Suryapet and Kothagudem districts and they have directed that special attention be paid to these districts.
