Agniveer Jawan M Murali Naik (24), hailing from Kallitanda village in Gorantla mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district, was killed in an exchange of fire with infiltrators along the border in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Military officials informed his family about the tragic demise the same day.
Naik, the son of Sriram Naik and Jyothibai, was recruited under the Agniveer scheme in October 2022. He underwent six months of training in Nashik, Maharashtra, before being deployed to Jammu and Kashmir. During a recent infiltration attempt, Naik was part of the Army team that engaged five armed infiltrators. In the ensuing encounter, he sustained bullet injuries and succumbed to them. All five infiltrators were neutralised by the Army.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the soldier’s death, describing it as a supreme sacrifice for the nation. He spoke with the bereaved parents over the phone and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. “The nation will always remember Murali’s bravery and dedication,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the State government would provide all possible assistance to the family. He urged them to remain strong during this period of immense grief.
