Akansha Ranjan Kapoor calls her south debut as her ‘dream project’

Must read

Actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, well-known for her diverse roles in projects like Guilty, Ray and Monica, Oh My Darling, is gearing up for her debut in South Indian cinema with the Pan Indian film MaayaOne, co-starring Tollywood star Sundeep Kishan.
Expressing her excitement about this new venture, the actress revealed that being part of this film was a dream project for her. In a recent interview, she shared, “Honestly, I think it’s the best time to do a South film. Suddenly, like for a year, everybody just wants to grab a South film. So, I think it came at the perfect time. I’m ecstatic; it’s just so fun and so different from here. I am just learning and enjoying the newness of all this. Yeah, I am just thrilled. I pick my projects very intuitively; however, South was a direction I wanted to foray into for the longest time, but I didn’t know how to actively pursue it.”
She further added, “So, it just so happened with MaayaOne, when an agent from the South called me and just told me about the set-up. Even before I heard the narration, I said yes to the film. It was just my intuition, and I knew that this would definitely open a whole new audience, new doors, and so many more opportunities that a fairly new actor like me needs. I have had very limited visibility because of streaming, but I’m very happy because with this I will have my first theatrical release.”
When asked whether her decision to venture into South cinema was driven by pressure or intuition, she clarified, “Honestly, it was a no-brainer decision for me. I usually follow my instincts and rarely seek a second opinion. It wasn’t pressure guiding this choice, although there’s always an industry pressure to select roles. However, strangely enough, I haven’t felt pressured because I’ve been working towards this for so long. Now that it’s happening, I’m simply enjoying myself, not being weighed down by pressure, and living my dream.”
MaayaOne directed by CV Kumar is the direct sequel and remake of the 2017  Tamil-language science fiction thriller film Maayavan. The film is all set to release in theatres in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
