The OBC leaders in the Congress have demanded that the party should allocate 48 Assembly seats to them and that the party should field OBC leaders wherever they are strong. They said that they had recognised that BCs are strong in 48 seats across the state and that 65 strong BC leaders are ready to contest.
Speaking to the media after the meeting of Congress OBC ticket hopefuls at the Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, OBC leader Kathi Venkata Swamy said that OBCs are expecting what they deserve and that many OBCs are looking at the BRS and the BJP.
The Congress must give priority to OBCs if the party wants to attract BCs towards the Congress again. He said that 65 BC leaders are strong financially too and that they will bring the issue to the attention of AICC leaders.
He said that they have already brought the matter to the attention of Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre and TPCC chief Revanth Reddy.
Venkata Swamy made it clear that they are asking for 48 seats and not for 32 or 34 seats.
