Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita has added a touch of star power to the ‘Handloom Saree Walk’ organised by the Spirit of Vizag Society on the eve of National Handloom Day, on the picturesque RK Beach on Sunday. The event, a vibrant celebration of India’s rich textile heritage, witnessed an enthusiastic participation of women, aiming to promote handloom sarees and extend support to weavers.
Minister Anita extolled saree as an embodiment of India’s cultural identity and tradition. “Saree is more than just an attire; it’s a living testament to our heritage, passed down through generations,” she declared. Acknowledging the immense challenges faced by handloom weavers, who dedicate nearly three weeks to crafting a single saree, the Minister pledged the NDA government’s support to the sector. She announced comprehensive welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of these skilled artisans.
