Minister for Women and Child Welfare and Tribal Welfare, Gummidi Sandhya Rani, has announced a series of initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of tribal populations. Speaking at the Adivasi Day celebration hosted by Tribal Associations in Saluru, the Minister outlined a comprehensive vision for tribal empowerment.
Minister Sandhya Rani emphasised the significance of economic empowerment through the introduction of TRICOR loans designed to foster self-employment among tribals. She also highlighted the State’s forthcoming plan to establish Anna Canteens, aiming to bolster food security and enhance access to vital services for these communities.
In addressing the persistent issue of inadequate infrastructure, the Minister promised a comprehensive road construction plan to improve connectivity in tribal villages. Acknowledging the severe impact on pregnant women due to poor road facilities, she committed to laying roads to every village, ensuring the efficient movement of feeder ambulances and improving overall health outcomes.
In a major development, Sandhya Rani announced the approval of 31 drinking water schemes for the Makkuva, Saluru, and Pachipenta mandals, with the works set to begin shortly. She further revealed plans to extend these schemes to 70 additional villages and to install RO plants in Tribal Welfare Ashram Schools, aimed at enhancing water quality and health standards.
The Minister also urged the tribal youth to excel academically and professionally, encouraging them to draw inspiration from successful peers who have made strides in higher education and employment. “Our tribals possess immense intelligence and potential. With dedication and effort, they can compete and succeed in every field.”
The event also featured contributions from State ST Commission Chairman Dr. DVG Shankara Rao and various tribal leaders.
