Bankers asked to furnish details to election officer

Krishna District Collector P Raja Babu has instructed bankers to provide details of daily transactions, following the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. Furthermore, he directed them to furnish the details of any deposits above Rs. 1 lakh made into any bank accounts during the past two months. Additionally, the Collector said that bankers should open special accounts, especially for those contesting in the general elections.
The Collector, along with District Revenue Officer (DRO) K Chandrasekhara Rao and Lead Bank Manager (LDM) Jayavardhan, convened a meeting with bankers at the meeting hall on the premises of the Collectorate in Machilipatnam on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Raja Babu said that the election notification would be released on April 18. Candidates from various political parties will file their nominations until April 25, he added.
In this context, bankers should furnish all details regarding the candidates and those who make huge transactions. Every day, bankers should provide the details of their transactions by 5 pm. They should be particularly vigilant about suspicious accounts and their details should be furnished to the District Election Officer, he added.
He further said that outsourcing agencies which carry money for ATMs should have bank letters containing QR codes. They should have significant identity cards and those vehicles should carry only bank money.
Later, Collector Raja Babu, along with Krishna District Superintendent of Police (SP) Adnan Nayeem Asmi, visited the Election Complaint Monitoring Cell situated at the DEO office meeting hall on the premises of the Collectorate. A control room that works 24/7 along with a toll-free number 08672252533, 1950 call centre, National Grievance Service Portal, Complaint Management System and C-Vigil wings have been arranged.
The Collector and the SP convened a meeting with the Police and Excise Department officials. Speaking on the occasion, the SP directed the officials to take the necessary steps to conduct the elections transparently, freely and fairly.
He gave instructions to the Excise officials regarding the timings of liquor shops and bars. Also, with the cooperation of the Transport Department, thorough checking should be conducted at inter-district check posts, he added.
