Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao said that it is good that Rahul Gandhi spoke about BC census and that the Congress had promised to provide reservations to BCs on the basis of their population.
VH said that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra padayatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Rahul had seen the problems of the country.
Former TPCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that in the past, Rahul had talked about BC issues with some BC leaders, and had reminded them that during his tenure as TPCC president, 32 BCs had been given opportunities. He said that no action was taken on the report given by the BC Commission during KCR’s tenure.
A unanimous resolution was passed thanking Rahul on the occasion. The meeting decided to organise meetings of BCs in all districts regarding the assurances given by Rahul Gandhi and to organise a BC Garjana meet finally.
On Tuesday, a meeting of BC leaders was held at the Indira Bhavan in Gandhi Bhavan under the chairmanship of former PCC president and Parliament OBC MP Law Forum convener V. Hanumantha Rao.
Congress leaders who participated in the meeting thanked the party for holding this meeting and speaking on the BC census recently when Congress leader Rahul demanded in Karnataka that the Modi government should provide reservations to BCs on the basis of their population and to conduct the census on caste basis.
