BJP focus on Telangana

Should the outcome of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections be in line with the predictions of certain exit polls, the political atmosphere in Telangana is bound to heat up further in the months ahead, with the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party shifting its focus to the Telangana Assembly elections, which would be held in less than a year.

Going by the exit polls, BJP’s victory is certain in Gujarat as well as Himachal Pradesh. In that eventuality, the BJP will intensify its aggressiveness in Telangana. At present, the BJP-led central government, in the name of investigations, is creating a scare in TRS circles through central agencies. If the BJP wins in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, it will boost the morale of the party’s cadre in Telangana. People also may take the party seriously.

The game plan of BJP is to confine Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to Telangana State. In order to achieve this goal, the party leadership will choke Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao politically as well as administratively. Certain developments in the poaching of TRS MLAs case have been in favour of BJP and quite against the expectations of TRS.

In the coming days, central probe agencies are likely to go after some more top TRS leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are likely to visit Telangana more frequently to build confidence in the saffron party’s cadre. Besides, the party will keep harping that it is going to come to power in the state in the upcoming Assembly elections.

At national level too, there is no strong opposition party to challenge the BJP in the upcoming General Election. There is widespread opinion that the BJP would retain power in the next General Election. If that happens, it will give BJP leadership heft in its fight against TRS in Telangana.KCR and TRS cadre have already gone into election mode.

After the winter session of Parliament, the BJP leadership may concentrate on Telangana. This means that by January 2023 the political atmosphere in Telangana will be surcharged with poll dynamics.KCR has started district tours and is going to address public meetings at several places. The BJP also will conduct public meetings in the coming days, including those to be addressed by PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other top BJP leaders.

Once the BJP comes to power in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, the party leadership will try to campaign strongly about its double-engine sarkar while reaching out to people. The BJP leadership is expecting some more TRS and Congress leaders to join their party. For this, BJP will intensify its ‘Operation aakarsh’ in the coming days.The BJP leadership wants to establish that in Telangana the fight is only between TRS and BJP in the next Assembly elections.
